Without you, yes you, the world would be uninformed, boring, and lacking the beauty of great stories and creativity. Wherever you are, wherever you’re from, whatever you’re celebrating this week, we wish you the very best of the spirit of the season!

The submission period is ending for our competitions and contests for the 2023 edition of the International Mobile Film Festival in San Diego—our 12th year!

As we watch your films and consider your submissions for the program, we’re mesmerized by the quality of what you created. We’re impressed by your creativity and talents. And we’re aware, more than ever, of the technical skills storytellers like you, around the world, have attained since we launched our festival in 2009 and held the inaugural festival in April 2012.

We hope you’re working on a plan to attend the festival in San Diego this year, even if your film is not selected. Our festival is a celebration of mobile filmmaking which celebrates the humans behind the smartphones telling great stories.

In the last edition, we hosted attendees from past film festivals who were not competing in the 2022 film competitions. They loved their experience and we enjoyed celebrating this incredible medium with them. They met mobile filmmakers from around the world, professionals from the industry, learned from each other and traded mobile filmmaking industry secrets. They also had a great time during our unique San Diego Style Red Carpet Extravaganza with our cosplay group sponsors.

When we launched this unique film festival, the community did not exist. We’ve experienced watching it grow and meeting so many, many filmmakers and creators!

We enjoyed your participation each year, and we’re thrilled to provide the many opportunities during the festival to connect and network, celebrate with festivities, learn from each other and provide opportunities for you to promote and share who you are and why you believe making movies with smartphones is so important to the film industry and the world at large.

From our end, we see you all as very special humans who take risks, and are willing to share your stories with the world. We work with you all year long, before and after the festival to boost your projects and your presence in an industry that is highly competitive and intimidating. It’s our honor.
