It's A Good Time to Walk In
The doors are open for the 13th Edition of International Mobile Film Festival in San Diego. Come in, make yourself comfortable and inspire yourself.
Don’t let anyone tell you that making a film is easy. No matter what camera, gear, software you use making a movie is not easy. Don’t let anyone tell you that it’s impossible to make an amazing film with your smartphone camera, either.
After 12 years, you can only imagine how many films shot with smartphone cameras we’ve watched. We are not kidding, or exaggerating, when we tell you we believe in you. We’ve seen what you can do. In the SBP Podcast, we’ve discussed how you did it, with some of you. And now, it’s time to do it again.
Are you ready to go feature? Change your genre? Maybe horror? Or perhaps stop-motion? Do you know we also have a cosplay category? How about a martial arts live action film, like our friends at Art School Dropouts? Or this Me vs Me filmmaker and protagonist Monique Gall?
The summer is here and doors are open!
Feeling creative? Up for the challenge? Today, we turned the key and unlocked the doors. You’re invited to walk on in and be a part of the most inspiring and intimate film festival experience you can ever imagine. We welcome you to “America’s funnest city” with open arms!
Levi Austin Morris, after spending the weekend in San Diego for IMFF 2023, said we “…created an environment that allowed all of the filmmakers to genuinely bond. We ate lunches together and we chatted about our experiences. This made for an even more amazing viewing experience of the films as everyone knew who was involved with each project and cheered each other on.” Listen to him discuss his team’s festival experience with us on the SBP Podcast.
Some new changes!
We’ve altered the feature film competition a bit and added a thing about AI and you can read the announcement on our website. The criteria and categories are linked in the announcement, with the direct link to submit your feature film, short film, Rookie film, Smartphone story photos, and/or short screenplays.
If you have questions…we’re exhausted! But don’t worry, we’re here for you on the ready! We’ll get back to you asap. If you received this in your email, don’t reply here to ask questions, it’s best to use the contact link on FilmFreeway or on our website in the footer section.
We traditionally open submissions June 19th each year. The deadlines depend on each contest and category. However, the first deadline is in October.
Meantime, remember that we’re with you. We’re not looking over your shoulder but we are close and truly excited and looking forward to meeting you as a contender for our 13th annual edition of San Diego’s International Mobile Film Festival.
